November through May is peak diving season with outstanding visibility of 20–30m, calm seas, and the most frequent thresher shark sightings. December to February offers the most stable, sunny weather. June to October brings rougher seas but far fewer tourists — and excellent macro photography conditions are available year-round.
Thresher shark dives at Kimud Shoal require a minimum SSI or PADI Advanced Open Water certification due to the 18–30m depth. For most other dive sites around Malapascua (Gato Island, Lighthouse Reef, Chocolate Island), an Open Water certification is sufficient. Complete beginners can start with our Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) program — no certification required.
Absolutely! Our Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) program is designed for complete beginners. You'll learn basic equipment and safety skills in shallow water, then do a supervised open-water dive to about 5–8m depth. No prior certification is needed — just comfortable swimming ability and enthusiasm. Many DSD participants go on to complete their full SSI or PADI Open Water course with us.
Scuba diving packages start from ₱6,000 per diver, including all equipment (BCD, regulator, wetsuit, tank), certified guide, boat, and marine fees. Fly into Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB). From Cebu City, travel to Maya Port in Daanbantayan — approximately 3–5 hours by bus or private car. From Maya, take a public or private ferry to Malapascua Island (30–45 minutes). We can arrange your complete transfer from the airport to the island.
